Leadership

Pastor Adam Dow
Lead Pastor
VCF11.25-2.jpg

I serve as the Lead Pastor here at Victory. My wife, Danielle, and I have been married for 20 years, and together we’re raising four kids.

I grew up in the Northwest, surrounded by a family that loved Jesus and welcomed others. In that environment, I first met Christ and saw how ordinary faithfulness can have an extraordinary impact.

Like many, I wrestled with identity and compromise in my younger years. I lived a divided life—outwardly religious but inwardly chasing the world. Yet in that season, God’s mercy broke through, lifting the weight of shame and showing me the kindness of Jesus that leads to repentance.

Since then, God has been restoring and reshaping my life through mentors, family, and church community. I’m passionate about creating spaces where the gospel is lived out—around our family table, in the church, and in the neighborhood. I believe discipleship is a family calling: both within households and within the larger family of God, where everyone has a part to play.

I hold a Master’s Degree in Christian Studies from Kairos University and was ordained in 2022. Danielle and I feel called to use our marriage and family to bless others, to serve the local church, and to help prepare her for Jesus’ return.

Pastor Jim & Janet
Executive Pastor

I serve with my wife Janet as a team. Together we have a passion for ministry, a love for people, and heart to see others connect with Jesus Christ and his church. I've served Victory as Lead Pastor for 10 years and have now transitioned to Associate Pastor under Pastor Adam’s leadership.

Prior to full-time ministry, I worked as a businessperson in the electrical and automation industry. We have been married 49 years, raised 3 children and have been given the gift of 7 grandchildren. I attended Lynden Christian, Whatcom Community College, University of Washington, and received a Master of Christian Leadership from Trinity Western University and a Masters of Divinity from ACTS Seminary. Jim was ordained in March of 2010.

Janet attended Bellingham High School, Whatcom Community College, Trinity Western

University and ACTS Seminary. She received her Masters in Chaplaincy. She has served with Support Officers of Whatcom County. She is a Certified Biblical Counselor through the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors (ACBC). She is a certified Healing Hearts leader, working with women who have suffered challenging circumstances. She loves women, family, and is passionate about marriage. Jim loves fishing, mechanics, woodworking and boating. Janet loves crafting, sewing, pickleball and cycling.

Together, Jim and Janet look toward to strengthening the members of VCF through stronger marriages, encouraging children, and leadership development of men and women who desire to be disciples of Jesus Christ. James 1:22 is their goal for growing in Christ.

Andrew Slagle
Youth & Family Pastor
VCF11.25-7.jpg

I serve as the Youth and Family Pastor here at Victory. My wife, Sarah, and I recently moved back to the area and are beginning to plant roots in the very place where I grew up. As a VCF native, I’m excited to be partnering in ministry with the church that raised me and mentored me in the faith.

Growing up in church around God-honoring people was a positive experience, but my faith was largely my family’s for most of my childhood. It wasn’t until after I graduated high school and moved to England to attend Capernwray Bible School that I truly surrendered my life to Christ and began a personal relationship with Him.

Since then, my walk with the Lord has been vibrant as I’ve learned to follow my Good Shepherd and be obedient to His Word. Over the past seven years in full-time ministry, I’ve developed a love for working with youth. My heart is to help students grow in discipleship, evangelism, and study of Scripture.

Outside of ministry, you can find me at a local coffee shop playing chess or out on the pickleball court with friends. However, my favorite hobby right now is going on morning walks with my wife.

I was born and raised here in Lynden, WA. As a young adult, I thought I would be a part of an international ministry and probably move from here. Though I got to do a little traveling, the Lord grew my love for those who don't know Jesus, those who do love Him, His Bride, and for the "go" of the gospel right here in beautiful Whatcom County. I truly feel called here.

I am married to Adam, who reminds me to rest and have fun. We have four children that I adore greatly! Each is unique and wonderful! I consider it a great honor to grow them up into the person God's made them to be. I value freedom, creativity, trying a new thing or taking on a new challenge, and delighting in the goodness and beauty of the Lord through creation, food, music, and people.

God got a hold of my heart as a young girl, and it gives me faith and hope to work with children because they, too, can know the very PERSONAL love that Jesus has for them. My deep hope is to encourage kids, youth, and families to fall in love with Jesus, take delight in His Word regularly, participate faithfully in His Body (the Church) and be aware of His presence each and every day. A prayer I ask often is from Ephesians 1:17-18 "...that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, [18] having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints."

On Sunday mornings, children engage in scripture through reading, questions, creative expression, and activity. We value family worship and hold monthly family-style worship services. 1st grade and older stay in service with the adults on the 2nd Sunday of each month. We encourage kids and youth to develop their gifts and calling by participating in and serving the church and greater community.

I serve as the care coordinator here at VCF. Along with my husband and two sons we have been members at VCF for about 6 year and a part of the Lynden community for 20 years.I love the pacific northwest and the people here and have enjoyed raising my family, homeschooling my boys, and working in this community.I grew up in the church and have many times witnessed the beauty and blessing of the family of God working together to meet needs both within the community and in the church.  Which is why I am glad that I get the opportunity to serve as the care coordinator;  I get to facilitate meeting needs and connecting people here at VCF on a regular basis.

Kayla Bass
Ministry & Volunteer Coordinator
VCF11.25-5.jpg

I am honored to serve as VCF’s Ministry and Volunteer Coordinator.  My passion lies in helping those around me grow in faith, feel deeply connected, and know that they are truly loved and seen. Communication is a key in my role: I hope to always communicate with compassion and kindness.

Because my position allows me to be involved with many aspects of our ministry, I serve as a great point of contact. If ever you have questions, are interested in volunteering, or need to be connected with someone or something, please feel welcome to reach out!

John 14:27 is my life verse, through seeking peace I found this verse and since them have been gifted peace and more.

Outside of the office you can likely find me golfing, hiking, or spending time with friends. I love to try new activities and see new places, so you won't find me sticking to one hobby for long!
