Men’s Breakfast October 7 at 8:00am

Grab a friend and your sons and come for an encouraging man sized breakfast with the Men of Victory.  David Ellingson will answers questions like;

Why would a surveyor know why there are snow load requirements in Nairobi, Kenya?

Why would it be more cost effective to look for cooling equipment from an ice rink when setting corner monuments in Haiti?

When designing and staking for construction a refugee camp for 10,000 people in Albania, it is always good to:

  1. Hope the authorities don’t change the requirements to 25,000 the next day.     B. When they do change the requirements the day after you turn in your 10,000 plans, you redraw your re-plan and hope they don’t change requirements again.
  2. When they do change three more times you – come Sat morning to find out.

When pursuing what God is directing you to do, some surprising events may make life invigorating.

Cost is only $5 or if funds are tight come as our guest.

VCF joins 4 other churches as we pool together to provide basic camping and covered areas for eating and telling stories, lots of quality food, and a spiritual emphasis and devotion each evening as we tie up gear for the next day and tell our whoppers, but true fishing stories.

You can come for the whole trip or simply come for a day or two.  Whatever fits in your schedule. Cost: $35 per day by Oct 1. ($45 after Oct 1) See Pastor Jim or Pastor Will for sign up.

Intercessory Prayer Team

This ministry is ongoing and can be joined at any time by contacting Tina at prayer@vcflynden.com or Nancy at office@vcflynden.com. Satan doesn’t fear our prayers but he DOES fear Christ to Whom we offer our prayers because he knows our Savior hears and answers. Prayer is our greatest weapon against him and evil and he works hard to prevent us from praying. Become a Prayer “Seal” Frontline Warrior of God by uniting with others whose desire is to see God’s Spirit move in our church family, our homes, our community and our nation. No meetings to attend. Pick up a flyer for details along with examples of prayers to pray for one another AND our Pastors, Leaders and Staff. Tee-shirts (Prayer “Seal” uniforms) are also available that proclaim we are people of the Word, of Prayer and Frontline Warriors in God’s Army!

Prayer Requests, as well as updates and praises can be sent to prayer@vcflynden.com

Community Group Questions

Three Steps To Victory   Romans 6:1-14

  1. Charles Erdman said: “The life of a Christian need not be one of ceaseless conflict. It should be a life of ever more continuous victory.” If this is true for a Christian, how do you get from where we are in ceaseless conflict to a life of continuous victory?
  2. Why is it important to know (Step #1) what you believe?
  3. Review from last week the following points and comment on why they are important to understand.
  • What You Were
  1. Crucified with Christ Vs. 2
  2. Buried with Christ Vs. 3
  3. Raised with Christ Vs. 4
  4. United with Christ Vs. 5
  • What you are
  1. Dead to sin Vs. 2
  2. Freed from sin and sin’s power Vs. 7
  • What you have now
  1. A brand-new life 4
  2. Resurrection life 5, 8-10
  3. Step # 2: Count! (Reckon!) 11 What does reckon mean and why is vs. 11 so important to understand?
  4. Your life story can be written in 2 volumes. Volume 1 “What I was like before I knew Jesus Christ.” Volume 2 is “What my life is like since Christ came in.” Take some time for each of us to share in 1-minute volume 1 and 2 of your story.
  5. Step # 3: Yield! Vs. 12-14. Why does Paul say Yield both negatively and positively in these verses?
  6. Why is your physical body so important in your Christian walk?
  7. Why must this yielding be decisive?
  8. Why must this yielding also be definite? See Rom 12:1-2
  9. What do you offer to God?
  10. Spiritual victory isn’t going to happen until you make it very personal. How personal is this passage talking about?
  11. Rereading this passage, how is victory achieved in your personal and public life?
